The Golf Tavern was a well loved student pub of ours that was a regular choice when we lived in Bruntsfield a few years ago. We decided to pop in for a visit on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday after going for a jog around the meadows with Grace.

We sat on the benches outside to make the most of the rare Edinburgh sunshine and enjoyed some drinks. Would definitely pop back but probably when its quieter as I know it can get very busy in the evenings, particularly when sports games are on.

Buggy Space: 3/5

The doorway is a little tricky to navigate with a pram as there is a step and the door is at an angle and a little heavy. However it is pretty wide so manageable with a bit of effort. Inside there are a lot of tables so when busy there isn't likely to be a lot of space for a buggy to manoeuvre around. However, if you visit when quiet, then you'll easily be able to find a space for a buggy at many of the tables. Obviously, if you sit outside like we did, then theres ample space beside you for a buggy.

Children's amenities: 2/5

This is definitely a stop for the Mums and Dads. Although children are definitely welcome, especially during the day, its very much a pub atmosphere. There are lots of TV screens which may entertain some young ones, but usually focussed on showing sports and the pub can get very busy when big games are on.

One fun activity if that the pub rent out golf clubs if you want to play the short hole golf course on Bruntsfield Links, so for older children that would be a fun activity for the afternoon before a bite of food or drink in the pub.We had a lovely drink with Grace and would stop by again on a quiet day but definitely one to avoid when its a bit rowdier.

Changing Facilities: 3/5

The changing table is in the disabled toilet in the pub. When we visited it was very spacious and clean, but I know from past experience when the pub is busy many people use this toilet for convenience as the others are downstairs, so you might find its a little messier or regularly occupied.

Location & Transport Connections: 4/5

The Golf Tavern is perfectly located for letting children play out on the links. Close to the playpark on Bruntsfield links and with the pitch and putt golf course right outside.

There is no car parking but its very well served with busses heading between Bruntsfield and Tollcross - the numbers 11, 15, 16, 23, 36 and 45 all stopping on the main road.
