2 W Crosscauseway, Edinburgh EH8 9JP

We wandered through the meadows on a Saturday afternoon and decided to head to 56 North to sit outside for a drink and enjoy. the sunshine. Typically for Edinburgh weather, the dark clouds soon loomed so we had planned to finish up our drinks and dash off home, however the lovely staff came out to offer us a booth table inside so we decided to take them up on their offer and stay a while longer until the rain cleared. 56 North is surprisingly spacious and I found it much more baby and child friendly than I was expecting. Staff were very helpful and welcoming too. We have already planned to return again soon.

Buggy Space: 4/5

Outside there are plenty seats with lots of space for buggies around them so on a sunny day its a great spot to stop and enjoy a drink. Inside the tables are very spaced out and we were lucky enough to grab a booth which was amazing to let Grace lie down and play. There was plenty space are the end of the booth to keep the buggy there without blocking the way for anyone walking past.

Children's amenities: 2/5

We had a great time here with Grace as a baby but I think older children might be harder to keep entertained. There are a few kids options on the menu but there isn't space for them to run around or play.

Changing Facilities: 3/5

The changing table is located in the ladies toilet. The sign on the door does say Ladies & Baby Changing however I think it might be more difficult for men to easily access the changing area. The toilets are downstairs so there is no way to take your buggy with you to the changing area.

It' a nice big changing table in the main toilet area, not inside any of the cubicles.

Location & Transport Connections: 2/5

The bar is fairly close to the meadows where there is a great playground for children, however in the immediate area there is less to offer for little ones. There is no car parking available and only 2 busses stopping nearby: the 9 and 12. We enjoyed our visit here after a nice walk across the meadows.
